#BookReview – The Rise Of Sivagami

Not as much about Sivagami as it was about other several characters.

Plot
Although it was exciting to read about the corruption and dirty politics in Mahishmathi, it was tough to wrap my head around all of the parallel stories in the plot. The first 16 or 17 chapters just feel like an introduction to a ton of different plot lines, characters and parallel stories that would one day converge into the main event, in a very Game of Thrones-esq manner. I read the first few chapters at least a couple of times to even grasp what was happening and where is the origin of the story’s plot. For any novel that I read, this is super taxing unless the big reveal is really that… REALLY BIG. Which it wasn’t (not completely) in this case. It ended with a cliff-hanger, which is not as thrilling as #WKKB.

Writing Style
An origin story, it took a total of 18 sittings for me to finish this book. I usually read through a book with a maximum of 3 sittings (meaning, I pick up where I left off at most 3 times). With a ton of names of people, places, and objects completely unfamiliar to me, it was a draining task to finish reading this novel and wrap my head around the plot. But, with a flair for rich description, Anand Neelakantan paints Bahubali in (appropriately) suffocating hot tones, that goes best with describing the diminishing morality and increasing dirty politics in the kingdom.

Characters
There were lots of characters, but the book felt short in the sense that I could not spend a lot of time reading (or being with) some main characters like Sivagami and Vikramadeva/Bijjaladeva. Kattappa had a lot of pages dedicated to him because he wove through 3 or 4 different parallel plot lines bringing them together, but this novel didn’t feel like it was about Sivagami as much as it was about Kattappa.

Overall
Read if you’re all up for being dragged into the world of Mahishmathi, and its dirty tricks and mind games. I prefer the two movies much more, to be honest. Maybe because it has Prabhas and Rana in it. ;)

#BookReview – Mrs. Funnybones

Twinkle Khanna is Jane Austen, reincarnated.

Booted with a keen eye that observes every minute detail, an open mind that soaks in information without bias, and an endearing self-deprecating sense of humour, Twinkle Khanna is most definitely my favourite authoress, Jane Austen, reborn. She’s charming, witty and fast becoming one of my role models.

Throughout the book, her ability to keenly observe social norms and behaviour and putting her point across with an impertinence that is so sweet, it can only remind you of  Austen’s literary works. This book is seriously my kind of forever. Even 20 years down the road, I know I’m gonna pick this up and read it with just as much gusto as my first time.

This is a classic, guys. Pour yourself some coffee, get cosy at “your spot” and devour this read!

Herb Ritts – In Equilibrio

Hi y’all!

I’ve been in a very “museum exhibit” mood these days, because amazing things are being showcased around Italy, and while I’m here, I do not want to miss out on any of them.

Herb Ritts – In Equilibrio was definitely one of them!

Exhibit Space, Palazzo della Ragione, Milano.

This world famous photographer’s work has been on display since February 20th, and I’m so glad I went for it.

It was an amazing feeling to see iconic images put on display, seeing them first hand, reading about the photographer’s point of view while he took the pictures, knowing about the people he shot, etc. That’s why I love such exhibits; because of the connection established with the exhibitor at a personal level.

I’m sharing a few images here, just to give you guys a taste of literally how amazing his works are.

Armani / Silos

Hey y’all!

So I’m back this time with an amazing experience to share with you all – Armani / Silos.

Giorgio Armani is a gorgeous man who designs gorgeous clothes, and has created this gorgeous universe made of confident, sensual and effortlessly stylish people. The beautiful world of Armani, is a world that everybody aspires to be a part of. That’s the dream he sells, and that’s the dream I was sure would be presented throughout the museum.

So, with much anticipation and expectations, I (finally!) went to check the place out.

Hey y’all!

So I’m back again! I’ve been MIA for proper reasons, I assure you. Pursing Masters degree is no joke, but I have to say I’ve been enjoying my studies a lot. So consumed I’ve been with my assignments and projects, it was really difficult to do something fun and post it here for you. But I suppose, now that I’ve given it a good 4 months to adjusting to my new life in Milan, I shall try and post more frequently. I can’t promise you that it will be all about fashion though. I’ve a new found love in cooking, so I might be expanding on my blog “portfolio” from now on. Of course, fashion will be my main love, but you never know…

Do It Yourself – Burberry Inspired Shoes

Post-Template

Hey y’all!

Posting this week’s DIY for you guys, I’m in the mood for keeping all of my heels aside, and make something funky (and comfortable) for my feet.

Thanks to the tremendous database of Style.com and their daily inspirations, I was back to browsing the collections of one of my favourite brands, Burberry, when I came across these wonderful shoes!

Colourful, playful and slightly on the bonkers’ side, these sneakers from Burberry Spring/Summer 2015 are just the right kind of accessory I need in my wardrobe. Funny that they cost a whooping (amount) (well, not really that funny), which sort of made my wallet very sad.

Thus, I decided to do this: Do It Myself.

Yes. The steps to making this are very easy and the materials you need to make these are also very inexpensive (perfect ingredients for any fabulous DIY really!) and they hardly take an hour to make.

So read on to find how easy and fun this DIY is!

Post-Template

Yes. That’s it. Literally a one-Step method to doing this DIY.

And now, I’d love to see you guys give this DIY a try. Don’t forget to tell me all about it, and maybe send a few snaps?

Cheers!
