#BookReview – Managing Oneself & Managing Your Boss

Work life gyaan in two small, cute books.

“Managing Oneself” by Peter F. Drucker, is a book for every member of the workforce. This tiny book, rightly categorised as a “classic” by HBR, packs a lot of wisdom to empower anyone who reads it, regardless of their gender, position in an organisational hierarchy or freelancing, and phase in life. What starts with trying to help you understand your basic strengths and weaknesses in a workplace, evolves beautifully into how to manage yourself while interacting with other members of the organisation or workforce. Amazing quick read!

“Managing Your Boss” by John Gabarro and John Kotter begins like this: ‘To many people, the phrase “managing your boss” may sound unusual or suspicious. Because of the traditional top-down emphasis in most organisations, it is not obvious why you need to manage relationship upward – unless, of course,  you would do so for personal or political reasons. But we are not referring to political maneuvering or to apple polishing. We are using the term to mean the process of consciously working with your superior to obtain the best possible results for you, your boss, and the company.’ True to its sentiments, the book reveals that your boss isn’t always wrong, but not are you. The checklist on the last page acts a great guide for you to do your best to work in the office. But that doesn’t mean you should skip to the last page! Have an amazing, insightful read about one of the most important relationships in the world.

#BookReview – Mrs. Funnybones

Twinkle Khanna is Jane Austen, reincarnated.

Booted with a keen eye that observes every minute detail, an open mind that soaks in information without bias, and an endearing self-deprecating sense of humour, Twinkle Khanna is most definitely my favourite authoress, Jane Austen, reborn. She’s charming, witty and fast becoming one of my role models.

Throughout the book, her ability to keenly observe social norms and behaviour and putting her point across with an impertinence that is so sweet, it can only remind you of  Austen’s literary works. This book is seriously my kind of forever. Even 20 years down the road, I know I’m gonna pick this up and read it with just as much gusto as my first time.

This is a classic, guys. Pour yourself some coffee, get cosy at “your spot” and devour this read!

Mosh Book Review – The Mahabharata Quest: The Alexander Secret

The Alexander Secret

The Mahabharata Secret: The Alexander Secret by Christopher C. Doyle

Hey y’all!

I have a confession: I don’t like being an insomniac, and I try very hard to go to bed on time. Reading helps (sometimes only, because there have been situations when I’ve been unable to put down a book).

So here’s a book I picked up at an airport during my recent travels and luckily the book, The Mahabharata Quest: The Alexander Secret, did not let me get bored. Here’s a snippet of review, mainly discussing the plot, writing style and characters, my overall opinion and especially recommended age. The actual review is here on my goodreads account along with other books’ reviews.

Do It Yourself – Burberry Inspired Shoes

Post-Template

Hey y’all!

Posting this week’s DIY for you guys, I’m in the mood for keeping all of my heels aside, and make something funky (and comfortable) for my feet.

Thanks to the tremendous database of Style.com and their daily inspirations, I was back to browsing the collections of one of my favourite brands, Burberry, when I came across these wonderful shoes!

Colourful, playful and slightly on the bonkers’ side, these sneakers from Burberry Spring/Summer 2015 are just the right kind of accessory I need in my wardrobe. Funny that they cost a whooping (amount) (well, not really that funny), which sort of made my wallet very sad.

Thus, I decided to do this: Do It Myself.

Yes. The steps to making this are very easy and the materials you need to make these are also very inexpensive (perfect ingredients for any fabulous DIY really!) and they hardly take an hour to make.

So read on to find how easy and fun this DIY is!

Yes. That’s it. Literally a one-Step method to doing this DIY.

And now, I’d love to see you guys give this DIY a try. Don’t forget to tell me all about it, and maybe send a few snaps?

Cheers!

And just like the other DIY projects from this series, this DIY is Dust Proof! Safe from collecting dust over time and loosing the shiny patina, this method for earring organisation is perfect to store your jewellery without loosing much of its shine through oxidisation.

Easy DIY Hack – Ring Organisation

Hey y’all!

I’m bring you another addition to the  Easy DIY Solution – Jewellery Organisation.

Previously we’ve had dust-proof methods for the Necklace Organisation and Bracelet Organisation, which I sincerely hope you guys liked. Adding on to it this week is the Ring Organiser.

Rings are tiny little baubles that, if you guys are like the careless person I am, can easily get misplaced. This DIY not only ensures it stays tight and in its place while you’re not loosing it, also keeps it dust free. Not to mention the foam used acts as a great way to the shine on the rings.

Find out how by reading the instructions below!
